It is a fact, and of this there are abundant proofs, that in Surinam Cacao-plantations exist, each representing by itself an immense fortune, and which descending as an heirloom from generation to generation, after a long course of years with constant good care, have not only not lost a jot of their original value, but have rather increased in productiveness.
